Programme Details
If you are between 17 and 20 years of age, have successfully completed or are completing Class XII, join the Systematic Training and Education Programme (STEP) in one of the hotels of The Oberoi Group.
STEP is an opportunity for students to participate in a three-year programme that offers practical training at a hotel of The Oberoi Group. This training involves the four core operational departments in a hotel: Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Service and Kitchen. You will be in the operational department five-days in a week. We offer two Programmes under STEP:
The Hotel Operations Programme
The Hotel Operations Programme consists of various sections within the three major operations departments: Food and Beverage, Front Office and Housekeeping.The Kitchen Operations Programme
The Kitchen Operations Programme involves training in Western and Indian kitchens and specialist operations such as bakery, pastry and cold kitchen.
Application process for both of these programmes begins in February each year. The programmes commence in June.
In addition to practical training in a hotel of The Oberoi Group, you are enrolled for a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Studies (BTS) from the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). We provide assistance in the form of a dedicated study day once a week, IGNOU fees and reference books. We also offer you a monthly allowance, uniform and shared accommodation.
At regular intervals your progress will be reviewed by means of written and practical assessments. Appraisals will be conducted to support the development of appropriate attitudes and behaviours. An annual transcript of achievement is issued at the end of each year.
The programme is currently being hosted by: The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra; The Oberoi Bangalore, The Oberoi Cecil, Shimla; The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur; The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur; Trident Agra; Trident Chennai; Trident Cochin; Trident Gurgaon; Trident Jaipur; Trident Udaipur. The hotel that you will be assigned to for your practical training is at the sole discretion of The Oberoi Group.
A significant benefit of joining the STEP Programme is the preferred opportunity of a career with The Oberoi Group. You can be offered a job as an operational assistant at any of our hotels. This career opportunity is subject to your performance during the programme and availability of a suitable vacancy. Alternately you may seek entry into our two year management training programme at The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development (OCLD).
On successful completion of the programme you will be awarded a Bachelor of Tourism Studies (BTS) degree from IGNOU. You will also receive a Certificate of Proficiency from The Oberoi Group for the training you will undergo during the three year STEP programme
